About Us
The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters Vision is successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America was founded in 1904, and celebrated its 100th year of service to children in 2004. Nationally, the program serves approximately 225,000 children, with the goal to serve 1,000,000 children.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gallatin County is an important part of the movement to bring extremely effective and life-changing relationships to many more children. Our local agency was founded in 1973 by a dedicated group of Gallatin County residents. In our first year, we served a handful of children. In our last fiscal year, our agency served 476 children within our service area. We are incredibly proud of this phenomenal growth, but we still have much more work to do.
We have made it a goal to double the number of Gallatin County children served in active match relationships. In order to keep pace with the rapid growth of our community and the increase in the needs of children and families, we must meet this ambitious goal. This requires engaging record numbers of volunteer Bigs and raising funds to support these matches.
We have a strong belief in The Power of One, expressing the tremendous power one individual can have in the life of a child. This philosophy also extends to our organization's affiliation with our National organization - creating a network of One Mission and One Vision which will create stronger communities throughout our country, one child at a time.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a proven prevention program for youth, providing needed support to children in our local community through professionally supported one-to-one relationships. Each of us can remember a special adult who made a difference in our lives when we were children. Through Big Brothers Big Sisters, we can ensure that children in our community have positive adult role models in their lives.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gallatin County matches children aged 5 through 15 with adult and young adult volunteer mentors. Our program has tremendous impacts on the lives of both our children (Littles) and volunteers (Bigs). We are dedicated to providing opportunities to enjoy the magic that comes from making a new friend. Thank you for visiting our website. You will find information about our programs and services, how to become a volunteer, how to enroll a child, information about upcoming events and activities, resources for Bigs, and ways you can make a difference by contributing to our organization. We proudly serve Gallatin and Madison Counties. |
