Fund Development Officer

Duties and Responsibilities: Secure external support for BBBS programs; budget management; office operation; coordinator of fundraising projects; public relations.

Fund Development • Work with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and coordinate comprehensive development, fund-raising, donor cultivation strategies.
• Develop and implement a plan to identify and research potential sources of financial support, including foundation funding, corporate support and individual giving.  Assist with     major donor asks as needed.
• Research and evaluate new developments in fund raising and recommend those that show promise to the C.E.O
• Assist with all grant-writing efforts, including research on grant opportunities and all grant writing and reporting.
• Oversee Fund Development staff members, coordination training, meetings and reviewing progress.
• Work with Special Events Coordinator to identify and cultivate corporate event sponsors.  
• Work with Special Events Coordinator to ensure that all agency’s fundraising software is adequate and up-to-date, and staff is adequately trained.
• Serve on Special Event Committees and Fund Development Committee.

Marketing, Public Relations and Volunteer Recruitment
• Coordinate all agency newsletters, annual reports and other assigned information for the public.
• Ensure the visibility of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Brand in the community through media exposure in television, radio and print media.
• Maintain positive relationships and make new contacts with local media representatives.
• Create opportunities to market BBBSGC to potential volunteers, and develop strategies for volunteer recruitment.

Education and Experience : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and experience with nonprofit fundraising and special events required.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Individual must be enthusiastically committed to the children we serve.  Must have excellent organizational skills and sound judgment.  Individual must be able to work well in a team environment and be able to take initiative and make good decisions.
•              Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to multi-task, meet crucial deadlines and work with a variety of people in different situations.
• Track record of successful fundraising experience; planning and implementation of fund development and community campaign. Ability to relate to and work effectively with diverse groups; sale performance ability.  Must have a sphere of influence and past history of community involvement.

Fall Intern

Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for a Fall Intern to assist with fundraising events, PR/marketing and/or community program support.  The Big Brothers Big Sisters office is open Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm.  Hours are flexible and we try to work with student class schedules, but may also  ask for occasional help on the weekends.  

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to these tasks:

    Special Events/Fundraising
       o Make calls/contacts for donations
       o Help with event-specific marketing
       o Run errands & pick up supplies
       o Post-event data entry
       o Assist at special events

    PR/Marketing
       o Create/distribute materials to enhance visibility in the community
       o Asist with recruitment booths and presentations
       o Update website/Facebook/Twitters

    Other
       o Donor research
       o Assist with group activities
       o File and answer the phone
       o Find and train incoming Interns
